What could be better than architecture providing the stage for a home for innovative chefs/restaurateurs who go “Against the Grain”? Working on the design of a home for Vivian Howard and Ben Knight was great fun because my clients used their creativity with food, wine and art and brought this ‘to the table’ (so to speak) during the design process. Now, 2 1/2 years later, they have settled into the home, have gained national recognition with their local farm to table southern traditional cuisine inspired restaurant, Chef and the Farmer, and even have a PBS television show about them called, “A Chef’s Life”. I want to believe that the house had something to do with this rise to acclaim and fame. After all, one needs the proper environment, to be inspired, don’t ya’ll?
